enough compression?

could a stock 2.2L engine have enough compression for turbo without redoing everything such as messing with the cylinders and such? so what i mean to say is how much boost can you run o stock internals without blowig it up?

it depends on tubo size, most people run 8-10 psi with a t3/t04e.
