Default engine sleeve questions and pistons

i want to resleeve my motor. i got a b16 right now. should i resleeve the b16 or a b18a. these are my choices because the short blocks are pretty cheap. also i want to try to put out like high 300whp-400whp. should i get open deck sleeves or close deck sleeves. i want to bore the new sleeves so whats the max bore on a b16w/sleeves or a b18a with sleeves. if its the same i'd rather use b16 because b16's are earsier to find and cheaper. links comments anything.

bore is the same on both blocks. Max bore with turbo with sleeved block should be about 84mm. The ls block will give you more cc's because of the longer stroke. Either block should work good for you. The ls needs to be converted for vtec whereas the b16 should be ready to go.

We can sleeve your motor to accept 85 mm max turbo application. This block will be able to handle well over 800 h.p. and you can get all the components through us including pistons, rods, bearings, full build, etc. Give us a call (909) 592 - 4311 ext. 104. Thanks and hope we can help!

Vince would you recommend going 85mm right away??? Ive never seen you post that before, is this because of your new sleeve design??

85 mm is the max for turbo, but if the motor is built properly in the first place then everything should be o.k. I love 85 mm turbo cars on the street, they really have some *****

H22 can go as big as 89 mm turbo, but the H22 has so much bottom end torque anyway that I like to stick around 88 mm or even stock!

Benson now has an 86mm Turbo Sleeve available for the B20 blocks. We will be running it next season on methanol. Early testing has shown that it will hold 1000 horsepower but we will detune from that number but the block itself held up great.

i highly doubt that extra mm is worth it on the street...
