Default Engine rebuilders help !!!! piston clearance

i have a set of JE pistons , currently rebuilding my engine

on the spec sheet, its says to set it to .0040 , but my engine rebuilder told me i would probably need more clearance , cuz i told him i wanna run 30psi and aiming for around 500whp

any idea how much clearance i should use ???

are you asking for ring gap or pistion to wall

pistons clearance and ring clearance , its b18c1 pistons , 81.5mm

.005 will probably give you piston noise when it is cold. Call JE directly and ask a tech

Not to jack the thread, but fixing to be in the same boat, Sleeved block, new pistons, ect........ Is there a way for someone Building there own motor to ckeck piston to wall clearence?
