I run aem and hondata for my back up incase the aem breaks or blows a coil driver or frys a board. I can still plug in my hondata and be good to go.

Do you have an older AEM box?

This has not yet happened on the aem that is in my car now. But it happened twice on my last car that was stolen. I think my serial number on that box was under 20 so it was one of the very first boxes made.

I just keep the hondata around incase my aem does have problems.

Yep. My buddy (quitstrn) has had multiple problems with his AEM box. He sent it back for the second or third time today. Went out on the dyno. Lucky he had a good friend that let him borrow a new AEM box I hope AEM finally takes care of him by giving him a new box.

Hey guys, I dont want to come across as a "know-it-all" or a dick or whatever, but I've been installing and tuning various engine management systems for about 6 years now. I had a system work well initially but turn out to not have the reliability I needed(TEC-II) so I switched to Autronic. Probably one of the best decisions I could have made and at the right time.
I have been reading up on American made systems including the AEM stuff (mainly because the US dollar keeps getting hit with a sledgehammer) and I just cannot understand why so many people have such a high a tolerance for **** that doesnt work until the 19th revision,if at all. Can someone please explain it to me?

I'll be using Uberdata v1.7 with my setup...UD is very similar to Hondata, excepts it free..

Total cost spent on getting my ECU UD ready = $110. ECU chipping stuff - $15, Moates Burner - $85, homemade datalogging cable - $10. That's not counting the $279 I spent on my WBO2 setup, $20 for soldering iron and supplies, and the money spent to buy my laptop (which I have had for several years).

I am not going to go into everything that happend if you are truly concerend do a search under my user name and aem and you will find out. But the short story is. I got aem when it first came out. The car was tuned up at DRT in NY and I was running version .73. Car was running good for months until one night I decided to go from my low boost setting to the high boost setting of 14 psi which the car was tuned for. I cracked a sleeve and blew the motor. I after getting a new motor in I had sent my map to a few people on the aem board for them to look at and see if they could see any reason why it would have blown.

The timing map was so agressive I should have been running race fuel not pump. So anyway a guy on here said he would help me upgrade to version .94 which was the best they had out back then. We upgraded it and then the problems started.

AEM was super helpful and was always there when I called and spoke to JP. Like I said after I got it all running and working good my car got stolen. I am running aem in my new car and have yet to have a problem knock on wood. If aem was not very helpful I would not have went back to them.

I'm running Haltech now but I will soon be going Autronic. I got to mess with one on a dyno and thats all it took. Very Impressive!
I was going AEM but to many people are having troubles with them.

Only mentioning this for the pure novelty, I'm running EFI PMS. It works well for my needs, and allows me to keep my stock ECU, which I need since I have a 2000 Prelude with an auto tranny.

Neptune and Hondata are the best bang for the buck for a street car, IMO. I'm leaning a bit more towards Neptune these days as it's capabilities will continue to broaden over time, whereas I believe Hondata's R&D for the B series is almost obsolete.
If you're willing to spend more though, Autronic, DFI, SpeedPro, and MoTeC are always great options.
As far as AEM, I like the way a friend put it not too long ago: AEM= Almost Engine Management...lol.
