Engine Management question.
So basically, just to make sure. If I take my car to a tuner right now I'm going to be set up for him to tune it correct? (besides the map sensor that I still need to purchase)
Also, I have a 1bar spring in my tial wastegate right now. I plan on running around 16 psi or so (300whp). Do I need to put a smaller spring in the wastegate and get a boost controller or is the 1bar spring going to give me about 16 psi?
Here is a pic for reference to my manifold/wastegate placement if that matters.
edit: Damnit... my camera battery is dead... I'll charge it and post pics up.

My car is OBD1 and the ECU is obd1. no need to convert.
My car is OBD1 and the ECU is obd1. no need to convert.
hondata, neptune, crome, uberdata, only work on obd1 ecu's and are considered rom editors. not piggy backs. piggy backs are vafc's and similar.
A 0.6 bar spring will give you exactly 8.82 psi. You want double than that. A spring can only be doubled so on that spring you can only go 17.64 psi.
You can only use a boost controller to go above the spring. So lets say you have a 0.5 bar spring which is 7.25 psi you can only use a boost controller to go above 7.25 psi
To anwser your question a 1bar spring is rated at 15.50 psi. So if you want to go above 15.50 psi you would need a boost controller.
I hope I helped.

Ok, it's obvious you know absolutely nothing...
So here's what you need to do.
If you are close to DFW, Call Tony @ T1 Race Development
If you are closer to Houston, call St00pid.
Drop your car off.
Pick it up Tuned, and pay the bill...Enjoy your car.
Anything else, you are asking for big problems.

Lmao, see quote "I have NO knowledge AT ALL about ecu tuneing. I have NO idea what kind of HARDWARE I need."
Yeah, its just about tuning and ecu functions, I do however, know a bit about other aspects of the car.
I would just hate to take my car to Tony and have him laugh at me for wasteing his time for not having the correct equipment for the car to be tuned, thats all. Thanks

I was saying spend the money on a decent engine management unit.
Hondata is a stand alone system.
Neptune, crome, uberdata you can get mostly for free.
Thats all I was trying to get across
Sorry to get people mad at me, and start a discusion fight.

Neptune is not free. You can get it from several places, http://www.hrtuning.com has a list of dealers. Hondata is no more a stand alone than Neptune RTP.

Obviously you dont know ****..
SHUT UP.
NOW: Crome, Neptune (especially the RTP), and Uber all work fine. My Bro is Makin 637 WHP on Crome.... Im running Neptune, but what do we know.
Hondata is cool but not the be all end all of ems... They all have their share of idiosynchrocies like anything else.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Mr Wonderfull, you have chosen an EMS that works, your Bro is running a system that doesn't do timing correctly, and isn't worthy of running an engine making that kind of power, as he risks blowing it. PGMFI.org has a couple of threads about how changing Crome timing maps at high RPM makes no difference in timing the engine sees.

Dont do crome, neptune, uberdata. Go with hondata. Either buy a new s100b or a used s200 or s300. I bought a used s200b for $300. It is also in fairly good condition.

Neptune is superior to any of the systems you listed here. The only reason that many of the features Hondata added to the S300 are present, or the unit was released, was that the non-RTP Neptune added them, despite Hondata claiming for quite a while that those features were impossible. Now that S300 is out, the two are roughly on par, but Neptune RTP wins on price. For people who don't tune themselves, non-RTP Neptune is still available, is cheaper than S100B, and except for the ability for the end-user to tune it (missing in S100 as well) has all the software features of the RTP unit.

Neptune RTP and Hondata S300 are far more than ROM EDITORS. The hardware components of these two units add capabilities that are beyond the ability of the base ECU that they work with.

lmao I said I don't know anything about this whole tuning thing. Thats why I made this thread, to get awnsers... please quit stating the obvious and try and help me out inbetween telling me what I already know.

Man i am in the same situation as u. I dont know squat about tuning, i was planning on getting a chipped ecu w/ a base map already setup for my motor but everybody says use crome, neptune and hondata and get it tuned. I dont have ANY tuner or dyno in my area. I live on an island which sux... I dont want to buy the hondata unit and then cant tune it or get it tuned. Would i be safe with the chipped ecu? how hard is it to tune hondata? i do all the work on my car by myself just never went into any tuning
If I could get a tuner to tune my car here they would make alot of money down here or i should learn
