engine builders what micrometer u guys use ?

Default engine builders what micrometer u guys use ?

I'am in the prosses of installing my crank and I know what color I need so far (bearings) so i WAS JUST WONDERING WHAT kind of micrometer u guys using for a acurated reading ?

An outside mic that reads down to the .0001".

I use all Mitutoyo inside and outside mics. But as stated above just get one that goes down to .0001" and make sure you get a standard with it to make sure its calibrated properly.....although even if it isn't you can still get away with it since you use them to setup your bore gauge and it'll carry over.

what u can do for measureing bearings is use a normal micrometer and on the concave part use a wire thread gauge, then measure youir reading, to the tenth, then subtract the size (diameter) of the wire thread gauge.


that way u dont need a special mic for reading a round convex part with a anvil that is not dome shaped.

sometimes u can get away with just the pointy part of a dial caliper.
