Default engine builder suggest this....

my friends engine builder suggested a 10-0 compression for his gsr build
he plans on run 15 to 16 psi on the track
its getting new dart sleeves by the way
isn't this compression a little high..
usually when i read about a turbo setup in a magazine the compression is a little lower....

Don't believe everythign you read in the mags.

10:1 compression is just fine for that amt of boost on pump gas.

BTW - It's 10:1 compression not 10:0

Nothing wrong with a 10:1 setup with a sleeved and built motor, talk to your tuner also and see what he says, since he will hold the fate of your motor

I was hinting towards that by suggesting his tuner

One would only assume that he's running some kind of fuel management system (Not FMU) sinces he's spending money on sleeves etc..

Well then again it's not really psi that we should be judging by, it should be hp.

So what fuel managment system are you going to run and what hp level you are trying to achieve?

10:1 is an awesome cr for boost. I have seen some sick numbers out of 10:1

depending on the tuner you can make 450+ with the right turbo and fuel system

Why stop at 10:1 and 15 psi. Run 13:1 and 5 psi.

Thats infinitley low compression so you can run infinitley high boost.

danl, i see a lot of your posts and dont ever let anyone call you conservative!

Seems the right people have chimed in on this thread. 10:1 i think is a respectable amount of compression. Much of depends on how 'safe' or 'extreme' you want to be with your setup.

Seems alot of people are conservative with their builds these days (8.5:1 pistons, sleeved block, 14 psi and a 11.5-12 AFRs). Its kind of a waste IMO to run such a nice setup and not tune it to its true potential.

I say be bold! And if the tuner you go to seems scared of the compression ratio...find another tuner or learn to do it yourself (much more fun in my opinion ).

id rather be able to run more boost on a lower compresion ratio, than run less boost on a high compresion engine.

the boost will make more power than the extra points of compresion.
