Default 12:1 compression turbo?

anybody here running 12:1 compression with turbo?

can this kind of setup actually be streetable and reliable? if the tune is the bestest of the best, is it worth doing?

you are approaching an all motor car at that point. with pump gas you will only be able to run like 5lbs.

some other people will disagree, but i do have a point.

get your self a good tunner I wouls say probly around 5psi or so on pump gas , but it should hardly take any boost to make some solid numbers .

5psi max on 93octane?

how would a 11:1 @ 8lbs compare to a 12:1 @ 5lbs?

can somebody explain why you need to lower the boost the higher you go in compression?

when you add forced induction to a motor is it just like uping your compression ratio , and the more psi you run the higher your cr will be ,

the compression is too high

you need to have like at least the 10s to have a decent turbo setup with high compression turbo setup

the 12s are too much for turbo application boost pressure will be real low, and tuning will be a BITCH, you will need alot of tuning and detonation will definitly be something you should look out for with that high of compression

i wouldnt run anymore than 9s compression ratios with turbo application if higher compressionh is needed i wouldnt go higher than 10:1

Run the car on alcohol and you will be fine to boost what you want

if you have to do it, it can be done. i don't know why the people above me limited you to only 5 psi lol. 5 psi on a t25 or 5 psi on a gt42r? 2 totally different stories, and since you haven't mentioned your turbo size we don't know what 5 psi will do for you. . . yea depends on the tuner. there is very little room for error and i recommend a thick headgasket and some alky injection. if c16 or e85 are available to you, i recommend them before you up the boost. no i don't think anyone would recommend 12:1 compression. it's better to be safer with lower compression with forced induction. 10:1 is gettin fairly common but 12:1 is very risky. a bad batch of gas could lead to detonation. good luck.

thats a all motor setup you can use nitrous on race gas with proper tuning

i wouldnt run that high of a CR with a turbo in extreme case i might run 11.0:1 with about 7psi to 11psi reasons:
1. tuning is the key and i could still drive it on the street and IDLE ok
2. when the turbos not boost i had the great all motor benfits from the high CR
3. less chance of detenation lets remember detenation is cause from heat so if i keep heat in check im good.
there are more reasons why i would run 11:1 but those are my mains
