.::engine brake in::.
My engine and turbo will be going into my car this weekend for the first time. I have searched around to see how I should brake it in, and it seems like there are many diffrent views on this. so I ask the pros here at H-T, should I do a hard brake in or a soft brake in. how did you guys do it. here is my set up.
gsr sleeved block.
eagle rods
JE pistons
all new barings
new oil and water pump
sc61 turbo
basically and new block.

I broke in on the dyno. Basically tuned partial throttle and low load first. After about 5-7 minutes we started to doing full power pulls. 210 across the board.
Its good to see you searched...

yeah I read that artical, I guess what I was asking is how did everyone on here brake in there motor. I read all that came up on searches and I know what everyone has wrote. I am just wondering what real people on here have done.

I am in the same boat as you. It seems everyone has a different way to break in a motor and different theorys why that way is better than the next.
I talked to Jeff Evans about tuning my car and while talking to him I asked what he recommends (since he seems to be a very good tuner and engine builder). He said to run the engine for 10-15 minutes holding it at 2-3k rpm. Use a non detergent 30wt oil and keep the heat on full blast. After that you can drive the car with the stock ecu, injectors, no check engine lights ect...., but don't drive it hard. If you are running an EMS and the tune is way off go straight to the dyno. He said he has done 50+ engines this way with no problems if I remember right.
So to answer your question I haven't broken it in yet, but this is the method I am going to use.

since i put my motor together myself. i just started it up, checked for leaks, or any abnormal sounds. no leaks so i let it warm up, then changed the oil. now it's getting broken in and tuned on friday on a dyno.
mine is still at the shop, but it will be going into my car this weekend. It has been a long wait. I cant wait. the only thing is the shop dosent have a dyno though so I will have to drive it to the dyno and I dont want to screw anything up if you know what I mean, I dont want to lose thousands of $$ on something stupid.
