Default Electronic cutout worth it or not for my setup???

OK i am running a stock gsr with a garrett t28 sized turbo. Tuner told me that 300hp was a reasonable safe goal. I am not building a race car just a fun daily drive. I am wondering if a cutout will make a decent difference. I know spool will be a bit faster but with the little turbo thats the least of my worries. My exhaust currently is a 2.5 inch downpipe and the rest of exhaust is 2.25 with a apexi world 2 muffler. No cats or resonators.

Do you guys think its worth the money to but and install it???
What kinda gains do you think ill see???

I think you would be better off getting a three inch high flow cat and 3 inch full exhaust (and dp if you can afford it) to free up that power all the time. I have seen threads where people have gone from restrictive exhaust to high flow exhaust (3 inch or bigger) on turbo set ups and they have had huge gains.

I have also heard that a electronic cutout can change your A/F slightly making your tune slightly off when it is open. Someone correct me if im wrong here please.

Yeah you would be running rich on a closed cutout if you have it tuned for an open cutout. Either tune with the cutout closed (apparently someone gained a bit of power by simply opening their cutout on a closed cutout tune) or tune and run two maps.

so if i am gonna run a single crome map on my car i should just go without then. Ok cool. I figured i would be in a little mix with it being either rich closed if tuned open or the oposite. Ill just not put it on and upgrade the exhaust later..\

How much richer do people usually run. I have used one on a srt4 before and it didnt make to big of a diff air fuel wise

it all depends usually its just a little bit richer. now the effect applies in the opposite as well, if you have a tune for a closed cut out and you open it you will run lean.

well, for me i have a greddy kit. with the greddy kit running to the 2.25 piping out of my world sport 2 with a stock gsr motor, i could'nt push over 190whp. so by adding the electronic cut out it relieved the back pressure and i was able to hit 250whp. just my two cents.

yeah you are going to see huge gains with it open, which will make you want to leave it open all the time, which equals lots of noise. But if you want quiet for daily and power and noise at the push of a button then maybe its a good idea.

Well i already have it but in a rush to get car tuned so i was gonna skip it with the small turbo. I dont know maybe ill go ahead and get it put in. Yeah i dont mind if its loud but the girlfriend complains and cops are dicks hear sometimes and i dont need to give them a reason to pull me over and complain.

Cool if its a decent gain ill go ahead and install. Thanks guys!!!
