egt numbers

ive never run with an egt before so i dont know if my numbers are high. on the highway there like 1200 and city there like 800-1000. This seems high but what do i know any input is appreciated thanks...

oh yea i have my probe mounted about 3 inches from the head on the runner all th way to the left if your looking at the motor.

depending on your timing if its stock, I would set it at 1350 degrees full throttle
and about 1000 or higher for crusing at 70mph should be good ..
