ok..i have a b18b with a hondata 2B and i just wanted to know which ecu should i get? i'm assuming that i'd have to get an obd 1 LS ecu (P75, P74, or the PR4). also, whats the diff between the 2B and the s200? thanks

i c that you're from rpm, i came there w/ my boy and his crx the other day and i'll be bringing mines there too to get tuned as soon as its done ...is the 2B still respectable, or would it be worth the trouble to sell the 2B that i have and get a s200? also, any input on which one of the ecu's i should use?...thanks

you'll be fine with the 2b. Any of the mentioned ecu's will be fine.

the P06 will work fine too, so will a P72 or P28 if that is all you have handy.

would you be able to tune a 2b w/o datalogging as effectively as a 2b w/ datalogging?
thanks alot....we'll be in touch in a couple weeks

As long as the tuner has a stage4 with datalogging or a s200 with datalogging, and knows how to convert to the older file format.

You just can. You are simply NOT utilizing the circuitry to activate Vtec. And the non-vtec programs don't look for the circuitry, so it doesn' CEL.

However you can't put a vtec rom in a non-vtec ECU, becaue the ROM will check for sensors/circuitry that isn't there.

ok, now i know that hondata only works with obd 1 ecu's and the obd 0 pr3.....like i said b4, my set up is a obd 0 crx with an obd 0 b18b1, and i basically wanted to know:

#1 do i HAVE to convert the car back over to obd 1 so that i can use a obd 1 ecu with my hondata?

OR

#2 so that i wont have to go thru the hassle of converting back to obd 1...would i be able to use a obd 0 pr3 w/o sacrificing any performance etc. (since you said vtec ecu's can be used with Ls's)??

thanks

I've seen several of the PR3s go bad, and they are expensive to replace. Also, you'll need to wire up a seconnd O2 sensor, as outlined here: http://hondata.com/techo2problem.html

I don't know how hondata handles it, but you need to disable the check for VTS and VTM in the software, because you will be lacking these vtec sensors on your setup so you have to supress the CEL. Then, you would just put your maps in the low-cam profile of the PR3.

What I said, really applied specifically to OBD1 ecus, where it is true that you can put a P75 rom in a P28 hardware, and it will run, that's because the programs share a common codebase. OBD0 is a little different. But if you can disable those sensors, you should be able to just use the low cam profile of the PR3 maps, that's assuming that they go to redline like the OBD1 maps.

Can someone please provide hard info on the OBD0 setup???

OBD1 P75/P06 can be had for under 100 dollars. I'm personally comfortable with the wiring involved in an OBD0-OBD1 conversion, you may not be.

Bottom line, I believe OBD1 to be a more robust overall solution.

thanks a mill...im pretty comfy w/ changing from obd 0 - obd 1...its just the $$$ and time thats involved. if it could be avoided it would've been nice...but oh well. i got the injectors, ecu conversion harness, dizzy, obd 1 donor engine harness and o2 sensor, so all i need now is the obd 1 ecu. thanks again 4 all the help
