ECU selfs adjust when you retard your ignition???
my ignition has been retarded 2 degrees since i've been boosted, and a honda technican advised me that when you retard your iginiton the ECU would correct it up to so many degrees...he didn't tell me how far it would adjust but gave me an example that if it corrects 7 degrees then i would have to adjust it 9 degrees to get it retarded 2 degrees....makes sense but does anyone know how much a 6th gen's civic ECU corrects it, or if this even true???

It's not going to automagically add ignition timing until it detects knock...

The ECU can only electronicaly advance/retard ignition so much itself, this is why you manually reatrd the timing via the distributor to give the ECU a new range to work in, a range a few degrees retarded from factory. This also gives the added benefit where if the ECU detects knock, it can retard more timing.. well actually it cna only retard the same 'amount' of timing, it just winds up being more of a retard because you alreeady set the distributor back a few degrees.
