ECU questions....
ok so i have a pretty much stock em1, and i plan on getting a full race turbo kit... t3/t4 and I need to know pretty much all the parts I'll need regarding the ecu...
i know i need OBD1 but which one??? a p28?
which ecu i need,
where i can get a harness,
if i need hondata, or emanage, or crome, or anything else like that,
also what kinda fuel injectors should i use? im only planning on maybe 300hp.. stock internals for now...and i wanna run 8lbs.
thx in advance guys.

Re: ECU questions....
You choose whatever software the tuner of your choice is best with, as he's going to be the one tuning your car to perform (or fail). I'd suggest 800cc injectors, or anything around that. 1000cc is a tad overkill, but if you want to spend the extra cash now it'll save you the headache in the future if you decide to up the boost.

Re: ECU questions....
Hi, I have a question that is very relevent to this subject. So why start a new thread?
Okay, I just recently purchased a 1993 Honda Civic Lx,
and the guy I bought it from said that the vtec dosn't work.(GAY!!)
He told me that its because I need a conversion harness...(sounds expensive)
and if I didn't want to buy the harness, than I can get arround it by wiring a switch to my steering wheel(even MORE gay!!!)
Now, I have a friend who says all I have to do, is change my ecu from the P04?
to a P28? and it should clip right up and fix my vtec issue.(true or false)
My first question:
What year, and model, does that ecu come in, and how expensive is it?
My second question:
Why cant i use the ecu I have now?

Re: ECU questions....
True, a P28 would fix ur problem and they come in Civic EX's and Si's from 92-95. The P28 can cost anywhere from $50 to $200 depends on where u get it. R u sure u have a P04 and not a PR4, the P04 is suppose to be an obd0 ecu for duel point injection. The ecu u have won't work because it doesn't have the Vtec parts inside needed to energize the Vtec solinoid.

Use a OBD1 ecu and chip it. I was going the standalone route but everyone says its not necessary with 300hp. Hondata is very nice, and easy to tune, If you have the money get the S300.

Re: ECU questions....
Crome is sufficient, I think that and Hondata are what people around here run.
You're OBD1, so what harness are you talking about? You can run the wires for the solenoid to the ECU and add extra pins.
Some ECUs can have VTEC added, like any OBD1 Civic/Integra ECU. The components to do it will run between $1 and like $10 if you do the soldering yourself.

Re: ECU questions....
Crome is a great program but unsupported so unless ur gonna have an experianced tuner tune it then Hondata, Neptune, or EcTune is what u want cause u can get support. U can't chip all OBD1 ecu's for Vtec and the Vtec conversion kit is $20 just for the parts. I don't recommend tuning for a first timer but ppl don't listen and luv to DIY.
