Default Eagle rods

Im building up my bottom end. And looking to get at the most 500whp. I wanna know if eagle rods with the bigger bolts would be a good idea to go with. Or if its really that much better to get the manley or pauter? I want people that have experienced either or, but not WHAT you have heard, what you have seen or done personally. Thanks

We have a few dozen customers around the country pushing over 500whp using Eagle rods. We also have a few hundred customers around the world running 300-500whp using Eagle rods.

So do you not recommend spending the extra 300 for the manley or pauters or even the crowers?

Yeah it is personal preference, but I think the real question here is "are they safe to use?". I personally think they are. I've been on a dyno and detonated like a **** and my setup held up!

No kidding ...I nearly **** my meal when it happed. The fucked up part about is that I set my ECU light to flash 3 times if the detonation threshold was too high, and the dumb *** who did the dyno on my car didn't tell me that it had flashed. He just kept accelerating Luckily it survived...didn't even phase the pistons and rods. Eagles do hold up well...I'm positive that if it had been my stock setup, I would have a hole in my block for sure.

Too good of a deal to pass up.

I have seen Eagle rods make 340whp - 485whp in-front of me. They are good rods.

Eagles are good rods. Mine are for a D16 I noticed the sides of the big end were machined? I called Eagle they told me since the begining of this year all Eagle rods will come with a larger ARP 2000 bolt hence the machining starting with the D series.

It actually gets torqued more than the Custom Age 625+ bolts that they were selling as a upgrade. they get torqued to 43ft/Ibs instead of 28

Any reason why manleys would be worth the additional 300 bones? Or does it seem like the only reason people blow up eagles is b/c they dont know how to follow directions and usually overtighten them or use some other kind of lube? I dont mind spending the extra money for security, but dont want to if the eagles will be more than enough.

It's the same reason why someone would buy a Ferrari instead of a Porsche. It's all about personal preference and more so for bragging rights.

gotcha, thanks for the replies. I think Im gonna go ahead and get eagles then. I thought they would be good as I havent heard of them breaking unless people overtorque them, but my tuner doesnt like eagles so he tried to sway me away from using them. Ben you got any CP/Eagle rod specials going on right now?
