I am working on getting some unfinished "Probe" rods from Taiwan and having them sized here to ensure perfect bore roundness. I also will be planning to use some of the best rod bolts available, ARP L19 bolts.

These Chinese rods handle quite a bit of power and from all the test that I have read from reliable sources the forgings are just as strong as Carrillo or Crower. The main area of improvement is in the quality of the final bore sizing and rod bolts and rod bolt area.

I'm not a fan of oriental made rods but they do look nice. If they use the same sized bolt as the Crowers and are strong around the bolt area, they could be a winner. As you say Rocket, the main problems I've found is in the sizing of both ends. If you can fit both ends yourself and keep the price under $300, would be a winner for everyone.

Under $300.

That's the goal. Small end end big end sizing will be no problem as I have access to the most advanced computerized Sunnen Rod Hone Machines. The same kind that Eagle uses. It properly hones the big ends in 45 sec.

Eagle rods are now ofered with optional ARP custom AGE 625 bolts, which are even better than L19's.

Anyone making serious power using these rods from Probe? (Jojo Callos is using Eagle)

They'll have to prove themselves before I'll buy...

I can probably have SPS MP35N "multi-phase" non-ferritic super alloy rod bolts that are corrosion resistant.

ARP also has Aermet 100 bolts.

Customers can chose which bolt they want. Just cost $$.

Have you found the rods to fail perpendictular to the crank, along it or is it fairly random?

Just wondering on the design of each rod.

Oh, yes!!!! Under $300!!!!

InfmaousRS who is in the market for some of Rockets pistons, cams, valvetrain, and soon to be rods!!!!!

How long do you think this will be till they are ready? I will have the money in about 3 weeks......I just got my b20 today and already decided I want to rebuild it before I put it in my car. I looked at those ugly *** pistons it came with and made my mind up REALLY fast!!!!!

Can you post a weigh comprarison showing stock rods, eagle rods, and Probe rods?

From an engineering standpoint, the Probe rod looks like a better design. An I-beam design will withstand more force than an H-beam, just because of how rods are stressed when in operation.

But the point is probably moot, unless you are putting down like 800+ horses.

The Probe rods are available from FlatlanderRacing.com for $259.

I had plans to get them straigth from Taiwan and do the bore sizing but I can still get them from Flatlander now and check/correct for roundness. This will add to the price a bit but well worth when building a bad *** motor.
