Default E-CUTOUT pros and cons?

Me and my buddy are both working on turbo projects and were wondering if anyone has experience with the e-cutout. I found one from Mr. Gasket but it was a 2in . Then i have seen the electric one with a valve off of a y. I was wondering if anyone had experiences with the electric one. Would the exhaust just want to flow straight and not out the y? HELP!!

How equivelant is it to running open downpipe if it is at the end of it?

Try those two places. Supposedly the Quicktime is a better unit but who knows really. I dont really have any other 1st hand knowledge so Im gonna STFU.

I have 1st hand knowledge on the QTEC. I have em on both my turbo cars and they work great for the most part. they have a problem sealing but if you use some RTV on it, it will work fine. It makes a big difference, I made 420 whp with it opened, with it closed with an apexi WS, i made only 295. it really depends on your DP and exhaust.

damn! That's a huge difference w/ the cut-out open. What size downpipe/exhaust piping are you running on the Apex WS? Like 2.5? But damn thas a big difference!

Why not just get a full 3" exhaust?

not jackin the thread, just not familiar with the E-cut exhaust yet... dunno why people choose this route over a full 3"......

I have a 3" dp and the Apexi WS is 2.25" i think.

I didnt want to spend more $$$$, a full 3" DP back can get expensive, while a cutout is only $150. Also that its more quiet.

You cant really beat the flow of an open pipe, I feel that's why.
3" or even 4" exhaust for that matter would have somewhat of a restriction, after the cutout there is no restriction at all!

Plus 3" is loud and somepeople like the fact they can keep their nice 2.5" greddy, thermal, stock,etc.. exhausts and yet have great flow and power at the flip of a switch.

don't see why not...you just buy an exhaust split like this( http://images.cardomain.com/me...3.jpg ) and bolt the E-cutout to it...then have the shop weld it into the exhaust somewhere on the DP or near the cat...simple

I can see the power benefit, but the cost doesnt seem to add up... If you had a stock car... boosted it... and ran a Downpipe... which would be 200.... plus 150.... plus... 350 for a cheep 2.5 exhuat..... so thats 700 for a complete exaust... with e-cutout....

or you could just not spend the extra cash on a cat-back and just run a downpipe to the cut-out and leave it w/ the stock exhaust. I guess the choices depend on the people and what they want.

well IMO, its kinda resonable for people who wanna keep the stock appearance of the OEM exhaust or like me if you already have a decent 2.5" system, but want the adavantage of "open header" for track or short races....plus they only cost $105 or so, so if a DP is $200 just have them weld it inline when they make it

well when you add it, you really shouldnt add the down pipe, because you HAVE to have that with a turbo.

just get it all done at once or if you already have a DP cut a section out and add it into the DP, thats all

and you don't always have to run a DP when you put the turbo on..LOL

Where exactly do you have your e cutout welded in? Is it in the downpip? If its not to much trouble do you have any pics of the setup? I would like to see exactly where it is mounted into your sytem. Like the angle and all the good stuff. That is a HUGE difrence in HP.

Look at it this way... even you cali guys would benefit.

Keep a somewhat stock decible level when driving around town meaning no unwanted attention. Let's say you ball past a cop with the e-cutout open and the **** is mad loud y0. He pulls you over and gives you a noise ordanance but he can't prove that the sound was really coming from your car because the sound it gone all of a sudden.

you see you could also keep your CAT intact also and the go open downpipe or open headers when your at the track or balling somewhere without causing the person behind you to turn off their air becuase of the smell coming from your car.

get my drift... very nice product indeed.
