Dyno baseline results..**VITARA PISTONS*
Well we hit the dyno yesterday for some baseline runs. And see +/- how the cars A/F was. I was happy overall with the results so far but i am sad cause the Turbo its taking a dump.. After some runs we had to stop and unstrap the car cause the turbo blew the seals and started to have shaft play..the blades were hitting the edges and it was spitting oil thru the compressor inlet.
Now i dunno what to do..if i should rebuild it or just go with a better/bigger turbo..
Well on to beter news...
For those who dont remember here 's a quick rundown on the setup:
D16Y7 Block
Vitara pistons(8.5:1 CR)
Eagle Rods
D16Y7 head, 100% stock
Z6 Intake Manifold
LoveFab Manifold
T3 Super60 (.48/.60)
Turbonetics Racegate(42mm)
3" Downpipe and exhaust
Ebay Intercooler
2.5" charge pipes
First , the Temperature on the dyno was 88 degrees and the Humidity was 55%
Boost was at 1 bar (14.5PSI...spiking to 16 at some points)
we started with 217whp and 18X torque.
After 4-5 runs we stopped at 237whp and 198lb/ft
We did not touched the timing maps..Only thing done related to timing was set the Boost retard from .60* to .50*
Air fuel ratio on the dyno sniffer maintained under boost between 11.0 and 11.6
According to Uberdata my DSM 450 intectors are Maxed out after 15PSIs.. Around 90% and at 17PSI theyre 103%..lol
So i will see what i will do with the turbo, if i fix it or get a new one..Fix the Exhaust leak, wait fir the wideband to arrive and go do real tunning.. I hope i can get around 250-260whp at 15PSI
Dyno chart will be posted later when i get it..the printer on the dyno was not working so my mechanic got the dynoplot on a floppy.

Damn nice...
Im running your Vitaras in my JDM D15B right now. Havent hit the tuning real hard yet cause of suspension issues but i cant wait.
P.S. You could always just send me your old turbo and that would help your decision. lol

Forgot to say that all the pulls where done in 4th gear and it was revved to 6800rpms since its a stock Non vtec head .
EGT temps stayed at 1175-1200 F(EGT sensor in DP 1" away from turbo) at WOT and full boost in 4th

Those aren't bad numbers for only revving to 6800...
I would think you could get some more power through tuning the timing.
That's a nice torque curve too!

Yeah were gonna work that out next time..As i said these were just preliminary/ base runs just to see where the car was at.. We didnt had all the equipment we wanted to fine tune..
We'll try to smooth those lines and play with timing to get more power at the same boost level.

Well money is an issue right now..I spent 300 last week on a wideband + around 100 more on a MBC and shifter bushings so the funds are low...If not i would get a t3/to4e 57 trim..
Things seem like i will rebuild the turbo, if the price seems reasonable..If not then i will try to get a new turbo..

cant wait to get my bottom end together (same setup he is using, bought from fjt too)
just got the eagle rods! gotta save for random stuff now....good luck with the turbo man.

i bet you'll be amazed when you add some more timing back into that thing
from what i've read about vitara setups, the low comp really begs for alot of timing.

great numbers . I didnt know that the vitra pistons dropped rigth in like oem pistons did, that great advice 2 know . Cant wait 4 my turbo d 2 b finshed.
