Default Dry + Boost

Hi, I got a question, I got a 99 ex d16y8 and i could get a zex dry kit for 250 and i want to know could i use it when i get my turbo. like drill the intercooler pipe and add the connecter. Or should i got with a wet kit and a aem fuel rail?

u should specify your question a littler more. is your motor stock? im assuming it is, if so I dont really suggest you run a turbo and nitrous on your stock block. but id suggest researching how nitrous works and how nitrous works with turbo setups a little bit more.

dont worry about my block i got some stuff up my sleeves. wink wink But i was just curious if i would do any damage to the motor or to the turbo. cuz if dry wont work i can get a wet kit for 50 bucks more. also i know nitrous im new to the trubo stuff so thats why im asking this question

i had the same set up with a z6 lasted fot 30000 miles with a 35 shot but still melted the pistons and they were coted to i would go with the wet

Ummm..huh? Do you have aftermarket pistons/sleeves/rods/crank....what? If all you have is exhaust and stupid things like that yes you can blow it up. Done correctly though a nice turbo/nitrous setup will provide more power then turbo alone and can be made reliably as well.

are you using an FMU for fuel managment? i could see bad things happening w/ a dry nitrous kit on an fmu setup.

ya for real if your talkin about 50 bucks making your decision between nitrous systems then im willing to bet your running stock motor. ever heard of head lifting? also what are you using to tune it with? fmu?

There is nothing wrong with using a dry nitrous kit with turbo. I have my ZEX kit plumbed into the charge pipe.

thank you thats all i wanted to know. I have my block rebuilt just got it done. But what i got done on it is my little secert. and im soon going to get bigger injectors vfac and a new fuel rail.

me too, since the fmu has already increased rail pressure sky high, then on top of that, the dry kit increases fuel pressure

Why would you use a VAFC on a built block? Get some real engine management.

I suppose if you run a blower it isn't any worse. I dont like them for N/A engines because of the unequal distribution of fuel and nitrous.

I would definitely suggest that over the hack, if you can afford it. The nitrous controls are pretty pathetic though.

Agreed. I wasn't very happy with Hondata's nitrous controls.

If you place the dry nitrous nozzle 18" from the throttle body you will not have distribution issues.
