Default Driveshaft noises

Ok, I have put about 1,000 miles on my 95 GSR with Drag III kit........238whp/181lbs torque at 7psi. The car has 62,500 miles on it, standard transmission. The car is running real nice, no turbo specific problems.
However, I am now beginning to hear noises from my engine, specifically from my transmission housing. When I start out in first gear or back up in reverse and let the clutch out a little quicker than normal, it kind of makes a metal to metal sound. I jacked up the car and when I rotate either front wheel back and forth, I hear this same noise in the transmission housing. My right side inboard joint has some play in it when I push it up and pull on it and it will move in and out about an 1/8".....I am thinking this is not good. When I go down the street in 2nd or 3rd gear and let up on the throttle a few times, letting the car slow down with the transmission, the noise is heard again. The sound reminds me of a cv joint clinking or a loose suspension piece, but after getting under the car, the noise is definitely coming from the transmission housing.....something must be loose or broken. The car runs fine and makes no noises when cruising on the highway and the clutch works fine. Does this sound familiar to anyone?? Thanks for any help!

could possibly be a few things... one can be the axle is fine... i dont know the exact sounds u are hearing... but i imagine is just a clicking noise... like when u accelerate the tripod in the axle is pushing in one direction and when it "clicks" it switches over to "pulling"... i cant think of another way to describe it... i had this on my integra and nothing ever went bad...

another thing is ur axle could be going... one of my friends had an axle break and before it broke it was making a lot of clicking noise... he had an lsd and it made ALOT more than normal...

if u have the time and patience... take the axle out and check under the boots and see how the axle looks

Thanks for the reply! I took it to the Acura dealer today and a tech rode with me. He thinks it may be the inboard joint on the axle. I am going to take it off tonight and check it out. Hopefully it is not the transmission. Thanks!

hey Jon. My car does the same thing but it is very loud, considering the miles on the car i guess this is normal, but i wonder if the sound coming from my car is the same as the sound you describe?
