Default Drag Kit Worry with B16a2 engine and to much engine compression

Hey all jsut a bit worried about the drag kit and fitting it to a b16a2 del sol vtec. because the drag kit dos't have a new head gasket to lower compression...like f-max what r ya thoughts guys ! ??
regards

well I dont know what the DRAG kit uses to control detonation. but the FMAX comes with either a MSD boost timing master or an r ideal head gasket. you can pick which one you want.

the head gasket will not only lower your compression by 1 point but it will also give you sluggish throttle response and a power loss unless you raise the boost to compensate. but when you do that your back where you started.

with the MSD you have control of the amount of timing advance/retard. I believe the MSD works by detecting knock and if it does it adjusts your timing accordingly.

IMO I would go with the MSD and a good fuel solution to prevent detonation.

ok so the MSD would work the same as the J&S Ultra Safeguard V2 Upgrade: $500.00 on the group buy.. humm looks like i might go drag.. after all...even thow i spend the last yr telling eveyone one f-max was the best eheh

I dont know the features of the MSD or the J&S, some systems automatically retard timing IF it detects knock some systems retard timing based on boost pressure (I think). like I said I'm not an expert on those systems, ask around to see what the different features are on different systems.

MSD BTM does not automaticly remove timing.. only the J&S sorta does that.

your best bet is an ecu (hondata 2b, etc) and a dyno.. all those hours of jumping into your car listening for detonation and trying to figure out if your car is running properly and if you can punch it are gone

DRAG kit @ stock boost pressures will be just fine on your B16a2 w/ out reducing compression.

the msd btm only gives you retard depending on psi. for instance 1 degree for ever pound.
