Default Turbo choice for built h23 looking for 400whp.

Setup:
Darton sleeves
Wiseco 9.8:1 pistons
Crower Rods
Delta 260 cams
Crower valvetrain
1mm oversized valves

Right now I'm running a t3/t04e .63/.60 57 trim and putting down about 300 at 10 psi. I don't think I'll get much over 350 with this turbo, and it has a load of miles and is starting to get some decent shaft play in it.

I'm still using a log manifold which may go, but finding a decent manifold for the h23 is kind of difficult.

Other turbo stuff on the car: 3" exhaust, 2.25" I/C piping, tial 35mm W/G, greddy type RS bov, 750cc injectors, decent sized intercooler (Still doing good at 300whp).

I drive the car on the street alot, not looking for that huge heavy hitting top end. Right now I get 10 psi by 3k rpms, and I like it.

Any input would be apreciated. Thanks all

A little port flow and and larger i/c piping would be a place to start.

The head has been mildly worked over, nothing serious but gasket match and mild clean-up and cc'd the runner volume.

Piping is in the works, but really, 2.25" from the turbo to the intercooler should be fine, maybe 2.5"-2.75" on the cool side, nothing larger is needed for 400whp, atleast in my opinion.

You should easily hit 400whp on a 57trim. There have been several people who take those turbos into the upper 400's on B series engines. If you're still worried about running out of breath, you could upgrade to something like the STC Silver Surfer or a 60-1

i have done about 5 h23a setups , a stock drag 4 kit can make 390-410whp max with the t3/t04e 57 trim .63 turbine w/stage 3 wheel,,, rigth around 20-23psi and they some with 2.25piping on the hot side and 2.5 on the cold side

so what u have would be fine for 400whp

The question still comes up though, with mine getting older do I just rebuild it, or should I go for something different (Maybe ball bearing?) or is it not worth my money going with the $1100.00 turbo's? Id rather not spend all that money if I didnt have to, so a rebuild just might be right for me.

Thanks all for the input so far, very helpful

to me its not worth doing a ball bearing upgrade, i would rebulid or do a upgrade to maybe a sc61e and move ur goal to 450whp, being that the sc61e is still a small frame turbo like the t3/t04e it will still bolt up the same placement as yours

Cool, I'll probably just stick with mine for the time being.

I'd love to go for more power, but I'd like this motor to last for a good while, I built it for 500whp or so, so it would easily take 400whp.

Quick question for you to, what cams are you using?
Or, on that subject, would you recomend for my goals and setup?

with ur motor setup you can push it as much as u want if bulit well it would hold as much boost as u throw in it, only thing i can see u would need is bigger injectors if u wanted to push it very far, h23's tend to like alot of fuel for the same power as a B would need, soo if u keeping the same turbo ur goal has to be 390-400whp but with that power ur car will break the 11's range with slicks.

im running a custom set of crower cams that they grind'd to my specs with a all stock head making power to 7800rpms, im doing another h23 setup in another car that i plan to try for 600-650whp with another stock head with cams
