Default Downpipe cutout idea *Feedback needed*

My project has been slowly moving over the summer, ive been too busy to do anything. But none the less, ive been thinking about the whole time.
I have been kicking around an idea for a cutout in my downpipe.
I want it to be as close to the turbo as possible. I bought a electronic 3" cutout from a guy off HT, it looks to be brand new, never used for $165 shipped, i cant see any problems but the switch looks like it was mounted then ripped out by the wires, and it looks small for a 3" (it looks like 2.5" but I will findout when i get the 3" triangle flange)
heres a link to the manuf.'s page http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/QTEC/

Im sure someone has probably done this before, but ive never heard or seen anything like it. so maybe youall can give me pointers

Issues :
- clearance, it needs to be low enough it will not be in the way(fans/oil lines/ect), and high enough it wont be getting hit by speedbumps, I dont want it under the car if at all possibe.
- angle , i need to make sure it has a good flow angle, so when it upens it is in the natrual flow of the exhaust, not at a 45degree angle like most cutout/Y pipes.
- o2 sensor, needs to be on the DP before the cutout, and a WB bung too.

So i came up with this idea:

Where the Dp usually 90's under the oil pan, cut out the bottom of the bend, and weld in a piece of 3" straight, so it kinda make a stubby tee, then weld on the flange for the cutout at the bottom of the bend and make sure its all sealed up. then check the angle and orientation for the cutout to sit and tack and weld the flange and studs on.

It makes sense to me, but i thought i would get opinions before i go buy everything else.

NO FLAMES FOR MY MSPAINT SKILLS , im just tryin to get the idea across. I know it looks like a caveman drew it, but just look at it and think about it

thanks guys

your idea has been done several times but i wouldnt have it THAT close to the turbo. Your gonna kill the torque

please explain

i am no expert, but wouldnt the turbo being right there off the engine cause enough backpressure that torque loss would be minimal?

I want this because ive ridden in a car that went from open O2 housing with amazing spool time, then same car with open downpipe with decent spool time (slower than open o2 housing) and then to straight thru 2.5" exhaust with mediocre(sp?) spool time.

this is going to be on a d series dohc zc, stock internal, street driven car with a 14b mitsu turbo

That'll work fine, there's no loss of torque being too close, you'll actually gain torque...

remember...the best downpipe off a turbo...is no downpipe at all................(it's a saying...don't take it literally and take off your downpipes and run "open turbo"...)

hm. well, i guess it also depends on turbo size. my car wouldnt even crank without a downpipe.
