Default Doing A Boosted D16 for my EF....

OK first off I DID search already but I'm only trying to get some others' opinions before I go buying stuff. I'm not very mechanically inclined but I'm willing to learn.

What I want to do is go the route of the D series since I'm still in college and money is tight. I'm looking to try and have a daily-driven boosted D between 200-250 whp but have as reliable an engine as possible. What should I do to make sure my motor lasts? I'm planning to build the bottom end first before I install the turbo but what else should I do as well?

BTW, I'm going to be taking an automotive course at my college in the fall so I can learn at leats the basics.

My shop car is a 88-91 DX Hatch with a full multi-port swap and a JDM D15B. We are taking that motor and replacing it with a bottom end built D16Z6. JE Pistons, Eagle Rods, GE Block Guard, Custom 4 Posts, Fully Balanced and Blueprinted rotating assembly, and stock valve train with the possiblity of a ZEX camshaft. We are going to run a LoveFab Mini Me manifold, a Precision SC61. Tuned on Neptune by Cortney Green (if he is available). Of course there is fuel ****, but I am not going to sit here and tell you the stuff to use.

It is up to you really what you wanna do with your turbo setup. I mean, there are infinite ways you could go, you could have it built and push 500hp and you can bolt a kit on and push 190hp. It is all up to you jsut make sure you do a little research before you go and drop a couple grand on **** you don't need.

You could use a stock motor in good condition for your goals, but just getting some forged rods/pistons will be fine. Tune it well and your good to go.

Yeah what I was planning on doing was sleeving the block and maybe bore it out a little bit. Maybe get the crankshaft knife-edged and microfinished. Defenitley forged pistons and rods. But I'm still up in the air about a lot of things. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Just get rods/pistons... sleeving and all that other stuff will be a waste of money for your goals.

dont even micropolish or knife the crank. its a d-series

good idea to build the block first. than get yourself a t3, hit up bmcrace.com for your manny and downpipe. johhnyracecar for the intercooler and stealthmodeperformance.com for you oil lines and charge piping.
