This doesn't make me feel comfortable....
While trying to single out a particular rattle in my exhaust, I free rev the GSR a couple times jsut after parking it here at my work. It's after a couple of these revs that I spot an ungodly sight..... LOTS of blue smoke pouring out of my exhaust
Now once I let off, the smoke completley dissapears, even when I went to the back of the car (still running) to see if it was spewing any traces of it, perfectly clear. The only other time I've seen my car smoke any pronounced amount would be at WOT when it'd let go of a decent amount of black smoke.. but that didn't worry me seeing as how rich the car should've been running i.e. black smoke. But this blue smoke is what has me worried since my understading is, blue = oil
Is this common on anybody esle's car? Should I be concerned yet or do larger turbo's do this moreso than smaller ones? (can't imagine why but..)

Well dave,
usally blue smoke is oil. you either have a bad turbo seal, which i doubt since it doesnt smoke at idle.
Most likely you have worn rings. or a worn valve guide, and a valve seal.

why woulden't it be the turbo? The oil pressure goes up with the rpms so maybe it just forces oil past the turbo seal when it is reved up then re-seals at idle.

Whoa.. is it really that high at start-up? I'm guessing because the oil is at it's thickest correct?
In any event, like I said, the car doesn't smoke blue under load, only seems to do that when free reving it with no load. Then again I do recall my GReddy doing that on my Civic too.. and that motor is 100% today hmm..

Yeah, it really is that high on startup. My Greddy turbo puffs one time when I start the car as well.

Are you running the hack?
I seem to have the same problem, I think it is due to an overly rich idle, causing the cylinders walls to wash off.........my car runs well under boost, but i can see some blue smoke if I rev it while parked........

sounds like you need to tune it more.
on the topic: probably the high oil pressure on startup I was thinking also.
