Does ignition make a difference
I just bought a MSD 6 BTM, distributor and blaster 3 for my car. I have a JRSC on it, and was wondering how much a difference it would make if any at all. I'm going to purchase the Hondata system in about a month and was wondering if i should even go through the hastle of putting it on, or just sell it and wait. I dont need the ignition if i'm going to be using the Hondata system do i ?
the msd setup wont hurt... it might probably help. however, you wont need it if youre goin hondata. stock ignition is great. unless your goin to boost pretty damn high.. then i would recommend the msd.

On the mark!
I'm using stock ignition with my 10psi setup. Works great. Hell I even went back to factory OEM plug wires. Those things are better then the MSDs I had.

it wont hurt , but prob wont help at your power elvel .
i got mine when i was spraying , becuase oft he funtions of it , i have a dig 6, so i kept it in . but i like it for the fact that revving to 9k i like to have the most spark at all times. so think of it that way . . . perf wise. you can do without

Hmmm, how are the stock wires better than MSD? Did you dyno higher, etc. MSD makes badass wires so I'm interested to hear what it is that makes stock ones better on your car.
actually there was a thread somewhere that did a comparrison test on all kinds of different wires, stock outperformed the rest. To me the only reason to get new wires would be if you have a high boost high reving motor, or if you just want to say you have them.....wish I could find that post, had dyno charts and everything.
i onlyreplaced my wires with MSD's becuase they lookedlike they weer beat and turning brown and the rest of the igntion system was going in too . . . so i did it all at 1 shot .
stock wires are more than fine though.

I might be wrong though. I dont know if they outperformed or did just as good as aftermarket wires. Point being, stock wires are very good. It might have even been in a magazine.....damn

Simple:
If your car has an internal coil, the MSD and Blaster will last longer, run cooler and keep your dist systems alive longer. If you have an external coil, the stock system is fine. I think the #1 reason any Honda should go to the MSD and Blaster setup is to get that stupid "heat generator" (the coil) away from the dist conponents.
As for performance differences, the stock system is fine for almost all applications.

Cuz with my ghey MSDs I was missing a lot sometimes. With the stock ones back in it doesn't do it anymore. That and they kept wiggling out of the plug holes sometimes... even if you clamp down on the engagement pins. Dunno how... As for dyno... I can't tell you because I don't go to the dyno every time I change my oil...
I've had MSDs, NGKs, and Nologys. <-OMG! I just find the stock ones tend to provide more reliable spark then the others have. However, if I had to pick something other then stock I'd pick the MSDs no doubt.
