Do i need to sleeve my weak turbo b20?
Im a weekend mechanic who likes to tinker. i do NOT race. I presently have a stock b20 combined with a standard greddy td04 turbo, Zdyne gold, walbro pump, 450cc and its intercooled. I run a 2.5" exhaust with no cat.
The b20 is smoking at idle and while shifting so i feared damage. After a compression and leakdown we found incredible #s. The highest leakdown # was 3% and compression was all around 170. My guess is that i need new stem seals, but i digress...
Do i need to resleeve the b20 block? I'm thinking of putting in forged rods and pistons and pumping boost to 15lbs. At this level, do i NEED forged rods and pistons? Can i just post the block? Should i get a better turbo?
Please keep in mind that i barely ever shift the thing over 6.5k rpms and would like my boost as low in the rpms as possible.
Thanks for your help!
