Default do i buy aem ems or hondata

just like the topic says which do you think. I am thinking about aem ems due the simplicity and the fact that it has a boost controller. also please give reasons as to why along with your vote.

I agree the boost control option is a cool feauture but I voted for Hondata because I feel it's more user friendly.

I voted for Hondata b/c thats what i'm getting, but i really think that you should get whatever your tuner is the best with and most knowledgeable with. That way you get the best results.

Remember tuner avalability should be a major factor in our decision as well.

If you get an ems, but theres only hondata tuners in your area, it does you no good and vice versa.

i will actually be tuning it myself. I live in dartmouth Mass and there are no tuners here at all. So it's basically all on me.

either system is good.. the ems , yes has more options but for your setup i would go with the hondata.

if you are not comfortable tuning your car give me a call at the shop we are only around 3 hours from you and can get the install and tune done all in one day..check my sig.

I chose Hondata mostly because I found a used one for a very good price. If you are tuning yourself it is very easy to use. Its hard to pass up the AEM though, talk about the ultimate in adjustability.

If I found an AEM at a good price, I would have bought it.
For your needs though, a used 4b might be a very cost effective way to go.

Good luck.

AEM hands down.

Take it from somebody who has owned both systems..............I dont think any other person in this thread has, except me.

Especially since you will be tuning your own car. Make sure you get a wbo2 kit cause its pointless to buy and attemp tuning any engine managment system without it.

Well, I currently have Hondata and I am pretty satisfied with the results, however there are some known flaws with hondata. The person that tuned my car did an great job, however he prefers AEM and after doing some research I am considering going with AEM. Plus the support is better from the AEM boards due to more users.. So my vote is for AEM>.

AEM EMS. There's no need for all the extra stuff like a Romulator, Dataloger, OBD2 ->ODB1 adapters. EMS does it all. Varible Boost control, Nos control, Traction control, AEM produced WB, Dashboard, Autotuning.....and when you want to change your calibration just press F2. No reburning the chip or whatever hasel it is for Hondata owners.

Just because Product A is more popular than Product B, it doesn't make it the best. Your budget, goals, and tuners knowledge play a big factor.

Ok, I do apologize if it seems like I am bashing Hondata, by no means I want to bring bad publicity. Most people here praise and worship hondata like it has no flaws. I just like to include the other side of things so people will know what to expect. Nothing is perfect and issues will come up with many products other than hondata. Most of these known issues can be fixed by a seriously good tuner, however my personal experience with some of them are speradic and it's way too common between others that they are experiencing the same issues.. The car is tuned perfectly and then one blue moon the car acts funny as h#$. I personally know others that the same thing happens. But anyway here is some of the common issues that I can find without looking to hard.. Good Luck with whatever he chooses..

this question is not too difficult to answer;

if you plan on self-tuning your vehicle, then you might as well splurge and buy the EMS

if you just want someone to tune your vehicle, and you don't feel comfortable tuning, just pick up a hondata s200 B for 650 and be done with it, you can pay for dyno time with the money you save

yes but what happens when he gets a new intake mannifold, or goes with a different turbo setup? more tuning cost and needed dyno time. don't get me wrong, its a nice setup if you are done and are not going to change anything for a long time. remember dyno time(around here) is around $50/hr plus $150 per session for tuning, you do that twice and your almost up to ems pricing. since i already have a wideband o2 sensor and the uberdata guy needs a wideband before he will make an auto-tune function i would personally go ems. but i can't afford either so i am going uberdata, hopefully he will write the script soon.

oh and go to AEMs site and you can download the AEM EMS software so you can get an idea of what it would be like to tune it. its an awesome program and i would highly recommend it to everyone just to increse your knowlage. i have that prog and uber data, now all i need is some free hondata software, anyone got some?

Hondata Demo Version http://hondata.com/software.html

I purchased the software and it's really user friendly. Anyone can almost tune with hondata. Don't forget though if you decide to buy everything in order to tune your own car with hondata, you are looking to spend a lot of money.. You need at least the S200 w/boost and dataloging, Eeprom burner (Chip Burner), Rom Editor Software, and last but not lease eeproms(the good kind for $5 a piece).
