Hondata S200 troubles
I feel like I wasted $1000 ******* dollars....
I am so upset right now.
I converted my 88 CRX Si to OBD-1, cool.
I installed my Hondata chips and removed J12 on my P75 ECU. Made a jumper on J1. Great. So I hook everything up, burn my EPROM, install it. I get a solid check engine light. It runs in limp mode, great.
I had my O2 sensor hooked up wrong at first but that is corrected. THere are no codes.
My interface box flashes slowly and Solid Check Engine light.
I have tried:
Re-soldered and rechecked connections(4 times at least)
Pressed Set Button while starting.
Run without J1 ( will not start, I think because of J12)
Burned stock ROMs
Installing the Caps at C51 and C52.
There is no R54.
I know:
The ECU is good, tested on another LS.
The connections are good
The interface box has been used on another system, its good.
The EPROM has been used on another system, its good.
Basically the ECU and interface are not talking. I cannot connect to my software, obviously.
Would someone please lend a hand? I have one more day to figure this out...
Thank you

You sure all your wiring is correct?
The blue box flashes right?
If you are trying to connect to the ecu with the emulator and pocket programmer and the blue box flashes it may mean a couple of things.
It could mean that somewhere along the line , from ecu to your laptop, there is a loose connection. It could be your emulator that is not connecting, that's usually the case.
Did you try burning a eeprom and then putting into the ecu too see?
First pinpoint if you have any malfunctioned euipment.
Then check your wiring again.
If nothign works try contacting Hondata.

I have not tried Emulating, yet. Last time I did I burned up my Programmer.
I have been burning EPROMs all day. Stock, boost, no boost, big injectors, stock injectors, you name it.
The only component I can think of that could be bad is the interface. But I just used it about 3 weeks ago...
We did start having problems connecting while using my box near the end of tuning.
Damnit, looks like I go to work in limp mode...
Thanks.

I think there is a communication issue between your ECU and interface box. We will need to do some other stuff probably other than remove j12. Call Hondata.
Brian,
I just got your message, there was no answer when I called back. Maybe I wrote the number down wrong. Give me a call back if you see this, I will be around for a while.
This definately sounds like a problem with communication between the box and the ECU. They base maps shouldn't be a problem, they are pretty easy to make. Have you checked over your modifications to the ECU?

By any chance to you have the datalogging cable connected? Try disconnecting that and see if the interface box continues to flash. Also make sure you are making v3 roms and not v25 roms. Message me on AIM: IntegraTypeR

Is the software, you need to upgrade it, i had the same problem when i went to the dyno place and we found out that it was the conflic between the laptop software and the blue box.
I am running RE 3.0.12 and HL 3.1. So I don't think its the software. I removed everything to make it stock and replaced J12. I got a solid check light after that. So I am not sure WTF is going on. I spoke to Hondata, I will be sending everything out for analysis. Thanks for all your suggestions.

i was gonna suggest you start your car up with stock ecu to ensure you have no CEL

The local Hondata dealer had a similar problem with installing a hondata in an LS ecu, the Hondata just wouldn't work with the ecu(and we tried 6+ different ecu's), the car would run with a p28 ecu installed, however it kept throwing a vtec code(vtec ecu in a non vtec car, this was before the ability to turn vtec off in the V3.0). Eventually they installed an older version of the Hondata box(old silver one) and everything worked perfectly fine, Hondata was unable to find out what was wrong, and everything that they did on their test bench worked, but wouldn't work in the car, they even sent out a newer version of the program to see if that would work.
