Disabling the Knock Sensor - HOW!?!
hey guys, i have a fully built b16a (jap block) w/ type-r tranny, 9.8:1 JE, Crower rods, etc running w/ a p30 (jap del sol dohc vtec) ecu and plan to run 10psi daily driver once we finish fabricating my turbo manifold.
ive done alot of reading and have heard that the knock sensor can misinterpret the 'shuffling noise' generated by aftermarket pistons and predict it as ping or knock and erroneously adjusts timing. which could screw stuff up under boost.
my question is , if there is truth to this occurance (which several people have confirmed) shouldnt i disable the knock sensor? and 2 how to trick the ecu into not throwing a check engine light for lack thereof
any input on this matter is greatly appreciated.
thanks brothers
