Default disabling a internal wastegate

ok so i have an internally wastegated turbo. off an old 87 turbo coupe. my turbo manifold has an exteral wastegate already mounted on it. i need to know how to disable the internal wastegate so i can use the external one. is there any simple way?

the turbo is like new and only cost me 50 dollars. but its set to boost like 17 psi stock. and im not looking to run nearly that much boost, and i already have an external wastegate.

way we used to do it on the turbo regals, is weld the flapper shut.

^What he said. You can wire it shut or something ghetto like that, but then you run the risk of leaks, and no one likes leaks.

would an exhaust shop be able to weld it shut? idk what to tell them to weld though.

i wonder how much that would cost.

If you are making a downpipe, just get a 5 bolt flange for the turbine outlet. You can buy them with no WG hole. This way you will get better flow and more room for other parts.

Another option would be to get a 5 bolt flage with a WG hole and weld you external wastegate tube to that. You will want to open the hole up a bit of you do this.
