Disable ELD function in CROME
does that mean disable engine light? or is that something else? I have a buddy that hollowed out his cat so his engine light is gonna be on. Just wondering if that will shut it off. Thanks

ELD - electronic load detector
depending on the obd of the car some are on teh alternators and some are in the fuse box under the hood. I had to disable this on a previous setup where I had an older obd motor in my newer obd chassis.

thanks man, but what exactly is it for then? Just senses when a load is put on the electrical system like turning the radio on/up or something? Then ups the alternator duty cycle?
Also, what i was asking for in the first place, is there any way to shut off the check engine light without having a good cat on the car and still have it run in closed loop?

Re: (93turbo16)
Electronic Load Detector
ELD is used to scale engine RPM as electrical load increases. Because the alternator drags the engine when it makes power, it has the same ability to possibly stall the engine while at idle. (Power Steering Pressure Switch and the A/C Request Line also use the same principle, to increase the idle to prevent stalling while steering or with A/C on at idle.) The only true way to test this system is to load test the alternator in car and see if it can hold RPM. If it stalls its not functioning.
They are located in the underhood fuse box, usually brown or black in color, and has a metal bar running through the middle of it. That is for 92-00 Civic's and 94-01 Integra's, anything newer than that I am unsure.

OBD1 cars dont have a downstream o2 so its not going to throw a cel for the cat being hollowed.
