The difference in turbos?....T3/T4 & T4 ?
I know it was posted a while ago but I can't find it in the search function.
Why do people use the straight up T4 over the T3/T4? In theory, the T3/T4 spools up faster, but being a hybrid it will flow just as much as the T4......right? So why would someone choose a straight T4 over a T3/T4 if they can produce the same power? Or does the T4 produce more power...and if it does, why?

the t4 housings will produce more power simply because they are bigger and alow more air to flow though them... granted it may take a little longer to spool... but lets say in my case... i dont really care when its gonna spool up... i want more top end power than anything...
the t4 housing will be able to flow more than a t3 housing... once u get to a certain power level ... the t3 housing will die out some whereas a t4 would keep going

the T4 turbine and housing is much larger than the T3. this effectively uncorks the high end, if you're looking to boost really high. On a T3 theres only so much that can flow thru that smaller housing and turbine, before the back pressure gets too high and the turbo starts getting inefficient. This ultimately leads to contamination of the intake charge due to reversion from the exhaust valves. On a T4 at high boost the exhaust energy is used more effectively because there is less of a bottleneck effect, spinning the turbo faster.
for the most part the compressor housings are a lot nicer / more expensive on a true T4.

T4 can support 550hp. T3/t4 can support 500hp. Turbonetics is my back up on the matter.

actually a full t4 can support more than 550 (the 60 series is still a t4 isnt it?)

Call turbonetic and speak to one of the rep if you want an answer straight from the manufactures.
Look in your turbo magazine and should be in the index section for their number.
