Default Difference in turbos..

I tried googling this and looking through FAQ here because I thought this would be a pretty common question but I guess not. What is the difference in a T3, T4, T3/T4, T04B, etc. I am about to buy a T4 manifold and I want to know if I have to have a T4 turbo to fit it or can i get another type of turbo. If they dont directly bolt can i get a T4 to T04B adapter or something?

Many of the T3 and T4 dictate wha type of flange it is

the t3t4 is a hybrid. T4 compressor side ( generally much larger and has become the std in performance industry) witha t3 turbine side which is smaller = faster spool

the T4B is just an older technology T4, using B compressor wheels which i believe are 8 sided vs the more efficient E wheel on the newer gen turbos which are i think 6 sided

be aware certain turbos will not fir your app, they have different turbine bolt patterns, placements, physical sizes, Hp capabilities etc

You also need to determine if a T4 flanged system is even necessary for your application. very few times is it not only not warranted, but may be detrimental to the power and response characteristics that you're looking for. Getting something that may not be specific for your application may cause you some serious headaches later on in your build.
