i just got my car back from a fresh build and i am having overheating issues

(on my way home from getting the car my msd went out on me and i had to

bypass straight to the dizzy from the coil). originally we thought it was just

the stock radiator being to small. then we found a hole in one of the return

lines on the thermostat housing. so i fixed the hole and it still was

overheating. then i got a fluidyne and its still over heating( just past the

middle not all the way in the red).

<U>the symptoms</U>: resevoir keeps filling up and blowing out through the top.

i just changed the thermostat like 5min. ago. hopefully that is the problem.

a friend said it could be the HGasket (i hope its not )

my reservior would fill up and overflow on my si, we tracked it down to a bad fan switch, but i went on ahead and replaced the fan switch and thermostat with mugen low temp ones, do you cooling fans come on?

it was coming on normally and still over heated then i hardwired the fan with a switch a it still overheated

did you bleed the coolant lines?

get the air pockets out...

most likely your thermostat i think, just let the car idle, if you have ac, cut it on high so it puts some load on the motor and just wait, run it with the radiator cap off so you can see if the thermostat is opening, etc. if it is, then put the cap back on and wait to see if it overheats.

make sure to add some more coolant as well in the rad if it does suck some down when the thermo opens

i just let it run for almost a half hour with cap off and bled the housing. i know it wont overheat just sitting there so i guess its time to test it on the road. btw... i only have one fan thats hardwired and am not running ac currently til i figure out whats going on.

well, what you can do is put the cap back on, and just hold it at about 1500 to 2k until it reaches temp.

also, my si overheated sitting in my driveway, blew he lid off of the reservior, spewing coolant everywhere

Plugs look good. How many miles? 10-20K? Insulators should be tan.

p.s. it's your headgasket.

Post whoring.. is your coolant clean or oily/dirty? "Could" be radiator cap?

well its not the thermostat. i changed it and it overheated 15mn later!!!

those plugs look a like it has a hint of green to it. (coolant) looked like mine.

do you have arp head studs on your h23?

My h23 is built also, but i used the stock headbolts, and on my drive home (3 hr) from my tuning session, boosting about 14lbs my headgasket went. I also thought it was my thermo, and changed that too.

Since then i have installed arp head studs, and put over 1000 miles with no problems boosting about 14lbs daily. I'm thinking that with the stock headbolts my head lifted.
