Ok, so as you know, i just finished my drag 3 install on my gsr.
When driving low rpm and low gears(1,2 and sometime 3) I hear a little ticking raspy sound, only at around 50-60 percent throttle. But when I step on it, everything sounds normal. This all happens under boost. When I hit around 1 psi it seems to go away
Im confused.
Please help me out, thanks.
Im waiting for the car to cool down so I can check the tial wastegate gasket. On my last gsr the gasket would blow out really quickly.

yo man.. that sux. did you install it yourself? that tickin sound could be something else. someone told me that detonation is more like "marbles pinging in a coffee mug".

I do make boost in low gears.
I dont know if its pinging or exhaust leak since I do not know what they sound like. It is a very faint sound.
Yes I did install the kit myself, and there really isnt much I can do wrong on the install. Its all very straight foward. I have not retarded the timing. I did not know I was supposed to, since the drag install manual told me to leave at stock timing.

I ran 14 deg btdc static for safetey when I didn't have hondata.
It's probably not pinging. How was your downpipe fastened up to the rest of the exhaust?

sorry for wasting bandwidth. It was my tial gasket that blew out. Is there anything bad with funky smelling oil? I checked my dipstick and it stank like i never smelled before. Im using mobil 1 synthetic 10 30
All the DRAG bolts sux! I have replaced my tial bolts and turbo to downpipe bolts with stuts and copper nuts. Nowit is working. I was sooo frustrated on my tial gaskets,. I have replaced them 3 timen within 3000 miles. Always the dman bolts gets loosen and the gaskets blow. Fix it the 1st time with stuts!
Yeah..the Tial studs suck ***! I bought some 8mm bolts, some red locktite, and some heat resistant liquid gasket at the local hardware store...problem solved....
as far as the funky smell...are you sure its not gas?...running rich?
