So it wont throw any codes...And i jsut need one sensor...Cause my car needs a new distrb so i can really use that....Im going to end up getting a 4 channel MSD box..Where can i get the switch so i only need to hook up the one sensor/switch

are you running a honda ecu or do you have an aftermarket standalone? with more than 1 coil output??????

I have a stock ECU...How would i set it up where i can run 4 CBR coilpacks..And get rid fo the Distrb...Ant having it run right, it hought u had to have the distrb to make it run right..But if there is a way around it let me know id like to do a msd box with the 4 coil outputs, and the 4 CBR coils

Coming from the DSM world mostly, those motorcycle coil 'sticks' are pretty much universally seen as crap (due to dwell). COP setups on a DSM's are mostly 'for show' and usually the high HP cars are running stock OEM DSM packs/wires. Just something to consider before investing a lot of time into a coil stick setup.

With a CDI system, the box holds the charge, so there is no dwell at the coil. I've run the CBR coil sticks up to 670whp so far with absolutely no ign. problems. Tell me this graph isn't smooth? Motec 4 channel ignition box (made by M&W) and CBR coils. Denso IK24 plugs at factory gap (around .030" i think)

I will forward this thread to a couple people on NABR who have discussed the coil sticks, as I don't have the technical prowess on that issue. I don't like to just parrot stuff I hear either. Hopefully they'll bring some insight/discussion to this.

Looks good Tony. At what point would you run into using the IK27's. Are'nt the 24's equivilent to only a ngk 7 plug?

Yeah, i don't think the 24's are very cold, but i've been keeping a close eye on them and they look fine. I told allen to get the coldest he could find and this is what he showed up with. lol

HEHE cuz I got a few sets of IK31s for mine Good to know the CBR coils are good and even a hotter plug lik ethe IK24s worked well.

After getting schooled about the differences between a stock DSM inductive ignition, and a CDI setup I now understand why the dwell is not an issue. Party with the CBR coils

Sorry about the post!

the denso coil sticks are very sensitive to dwell, thus they do not work well with an inductive ignition system. they are much better when paired with a CDI system. i have done extensive testing with the cbr coils and an inductive ignition for a budget setup.. go a hair over on dwell and you'll blow the tops off the coils and smoke the ignitor.

I use bosh plugs for a 00 VW GTI. there heat range 8, cheap and I have never had a problem with them. i've used them and put down over 400whp no problem. next week I'm going to see if they can handle 500whp+

Using a Hall-effect sensor should be the way to instead of a magnetic sensor....

A magnetic sensor uses a permanent magnet sourounded by a coil of wire. The knotches of the crankshaft ( or camshaft) creates a variable magnetic field strength around the coil. When a metallic section is close to the sensor, the magnetic field gets stronger because metal is a better conductor of magnetic lines of force than air.

How does Hall-effect sensor work?
It requires a small input voltage to generate an output signal. Hall-effect is the ability to generate a voltage signal in semiconductor material by passing current through it in one direction and applying a magnetic field to it at a RIGHT ANGLE to its surface.

I dont know how to post a pictire to show an illustration of both sensors and why I think that the Hall-effect works the best.

nissan cam sensor is an optical sensor... not that it counts for anything

929 coils can be used on H22s without moding the valve cover with the added benifit of NGK plugs being useable in stock form. the cost is 35$.

i been trying to thjink up a setup like this for a while but gave up until i finish building the motor. i am glad i found this thread, hopefully someone can help me out.

i am building a b20b motor with dual side draft carbs. i am not going to be running any type of ecu, this is not a street car. i have 2 sets of cbr coils, i have a msd sci ingition box. i dont want to use any type of distrubitor so i am going to need some type of cam position sensor to trigger the coils

basically i am hoping the use a 12v siginal to the msd box to shoot a coil signal that will be distributed at proper timing to each coil without using the distributor.

i already started rewiring the car with a hotrod wiring kit

any help or ideas will be apprieiated
