wow.. tony1 recommending msd ignitions... never thought i'd see the day.. lol

Haha, rest assured I didn't recommend it! He asked me if the MSD SCI would control 4 coils, and i told him he'd have to use the DIS4 to do that. You know me better than that. lol

Ok, now you got my attention. Didn't even know you could buy stuff like that.
Can you please share info on how it works? I would be very interested in building one. I have been studying DIS ignitions for awhile, and I have come up with a few ideas on how to build one. I would love to see information from someone who has done it (or knows for sure how to do it).

ok, maybe $15 was a little optimistic. the components themselves will cost about $25 (i wanted it to have thermal protection as well as being fused), with the PC boards costing about $20ea (for the prototypes anyway).
it's really pretty simple how it works. it's triggered off either the coil or the ignitor signal and splits that signal to 4 seperate coils using a combination of flipflops and logic gates. i'd rather not go too much into detail, as i plan on possibly selling these when they prove reliable. my current design has options for either ignitor or coil trigger and for either inductive or CDI ignition (designing a CDI box is next on the agenda. i bought a set of CBR coils for $7 off ebay and damned if i'm not gonna use em! )
if you want to talk more about it, feel free to email me. i rarely check this board anymore..

once again for the 3rd time in this thread, No. any program thet runs off the stock ecu weather it be crome/hondata/uberdata/neptune/pluto/ whatever cannot do cop. you need a ems that has more then one coil output.. the stock ecu has only one coil output.

actually, the outputs aren't the major problem... a second output for wasted spark wouldn't be that hard at all, but the dwell control within the code seems to be the sticking point.
lots of things on the horizen for stock ecus (true pwm boost control from the stock ecu is working for at least four developers including hondata right now).

Sorry this comment wasn't directly related at you. I just couldn't believe how retarded this thread had gotten earlier with people fighting over sensors. Unbelieveably this stuff is in Physics books. There shouldn't be any fighting if people knew what they were talking about. Midshipcivic and Tony the Tiger where both right in a sense, except people were fighting like retards. Then everyone has to throw in their 2 cents. Then you get into a sawdust fight, without any concrete information. I don't need to educate people. Books will.

Also how much does it cost to just get rid of everything including the distributor. </TD></TR></TABLE>
If you have a EMS with configurable outputs allready it would cost about:
coils and harness: $25-$100
cdi: $350-$1000
And if ya want to get rid of the distributor about another $550-$600

If you have a soldering iron, you can build a megasquirt ecu. Just Google Megasquirt and you can get the plans off the internet. You can get most of the parts from www.Element14.com. I have even heard of guys that have modified the design to make it into an ignition box.
Thanks
i hope i can get some info on this.. with emanage ultimate, can i convert to cop setup? because the emanage ultimate has this function to convert to individual ignition. im not at expert on honda ignition systems, but i get the idea that the stock honda
ecu sends out a 12v signal to the distributor for ignition. since the emanage can be set up to fire individual coils, can i just wire up the emanage ultimate to the 4 honda
cbr coils and they would fire up just fine? and please explain abt the sparkplugs choice after
conversion.. somewhere in this thread its stated that i might not be able to use the stock sparkplugs anymore.. please pardon my
ignorance if i may sound stupid to some of u guys.
