Default In depth problem, Solid CEL, Car wont start, Uberdata/450cc/OBD1-b18b1

hey guys,

Im really stumped on my cars problem, its kinda long, so ill thank you now for reading this far already.

First off: I drive a 93 civic, 94 LS Motor, Uberdata chipped p06, 450cc injectors, turbo.

the step by step that lead to my probelm...
I removed the negative terminal today to reset the ecu. Then removed the ECU from under the carpet. I then turned the key to the ON position and noticed I had a solid CEL. Im aware that fried ECUs will throw an solid CEL, but I checked the code anyways and got nothing but a solid CEL. I then started the car. The motor was cold, and idled at 1500, warmed up and remained at 1500. (I happened to be a the dyno at the time, and just to mention, AF reading were below 10:1) So, i decided to troubleshoot a little by revving the motor. It revved fine until it manifold pressure reached 0, thats where it hit a fuel cut. I removed my chip from the ECU, started the car, and there was no differance..same idle/revs as before, (hitting fuel cut at 0 manifold pressure, idling at 1500).
After that, i put the chip back in, and decided id slowly get it back to home. After 5 miles, i parked it in a commuter lot, unplugged 2 spark plug wires, and went in search for another chipped ECU. Finally a couple hours later i got one, i plugged it in using the chip ive been previously using for close to 6 months, then tried to start the car. It started, and died. I then remembered about my spark plug wires, fixed that problem, and the car wouldnt start. I then tried my friends spark plugs, but still didnt start.

cliff notes:
Car threw a solid cel, drove it for 5 miles, pig rich, shut it off, went to turn it on and the car wouldnt start. Using a timing light, I determined i wasnt getting any spark. Fuel pump primes, starter is working as it should, CEL is on, and the smell of gas leads me to believe the injectors are working. Im thinking, my ECU could be fried and my distributorcould be shot(its been jingling for a while now).

grounds.

my buddies civic with uber (tho had nothign to do with it) was haveing problems where it was in limp mode. he had just swapped in a turbo kit and had some grounds undone (i believe the chassis to tranny) and that causes his motor to freak out.

make sure everything is grounded. by the way, you said u unpluged the ECU, and threw a code, well no crap (no ecu!). dont take out the ecu to check a code. you just jump the code check plug to check a code. then reset the ECU to clear them to see if you fixed them.

make sure all of your solders are good on from the uberdata socket to the ECU.

thanks for the replies guys... heres a quick update:

after several trial and errors today, i think i've determined the actual chip and the distributor to be the problem.

Ill post tommarrow how it goes.

Just for future reference to anyone who encounters the same problem.

the problem ended up being:
-the map on my chip got corrupted, chip and ECU were fine though. (which caused the CEL, running rich, and no attainable boost)
-my distributor went bad (which caused no spark, lots of backfire/popping possibly from lots of misfiring?)

hope this helps someone in the future

Im in dealing with this now, Ive already bought another ecu to find out that wasnt the problem so hopefully my chip somehow went bad

it does happen. I went out one morning started up the car and was like what the hell. Drove my other one to work, came home burned my other chip, same program fired right up, ilded perfect. Don't know why, but i always carry a spare chip of the same program with my car. Also, you can always cut the jumper wire, won't idle for crap, and don't boost though.
