Del sol swap?
I just bought a Del from my local junk yard. i'm pretty new to the model. it a 94 del sol S w/ a 1.5 16 val. single overhead cam. its a 5 spd. its fast but not fast enough. the question is what the heck kind of motor is in this bad boy and what should i swap it for? also on a tight buget.
Del sol S is the lightest sols of them all due to the fact the car has alot of manual parts like the steering rack, windows etc..... I have a si model sol and I have degraded it to a del sol S steering rack and some more wieght reduction work. I am putting a built Gsr in mine and of course a turbo. It kicked *** with just the gsr. If money is the issue buy a LS and turbo it in the future.
yup,
It's probably an "S". 1.5L non-VTEC engine.
I would go streight for a B16a2/3.
I have a factory B16 VTEC Del Sol. One of the reasons it's heaver is because it has things like a swaybar in the rear, AC, PS, PW, etc.
I Don't care too much about weight. I would rather give up a few tenth's off my time at the track for a fast, good handling, comfortable daily driver.
Oh... and it has 10psi of boost on top of the factory 160HP motor.
Good luck
