You don't state what are your other mods so its hard to tell, but goin by that compression ratio you have I'd say no, unless the head is not even and need machining ..

People have made 400whp on SOHC's with 8.4:1 Wiseco and Vitara pistons, so I'd have to say no. If you were running 100+ octane, it wouldn't be a bad idea, since each PSI will make a little more power if it was higher compression.

what does psi and compression have to do with decking the block?

agreed. i dont care what psi, fuel, compression the engine has, if your building it deck the damn block and eliminate the possilbity of a poor hg seal.

Think what some of us is saying, as long you decking/resurfacing the head/block to make it even that is fine but do not take some of it to increase the compression rate.
I went 8:2:1 but then got my machine shop to take 0.5mm of the head to raise the compression up again.
