Ben,

We did not girdle the block for 3 reasons...
1-It's not cost effective, and not necessary for 95% of the applications.
2-Z-10 already makes a girdle that works with the block; 3 and 5 main designs
3-Crank windage and potential clearance with stroker cranks

The cylinder wall thickness at 84.5 is not idiot proof. We have run boost on the 84.5mm bore, but it would be safer to run 83mm. We cannot stop people from running the block at any bore size.

Civicdrgrcr,

We will stand behind the block, if you have a problem let us know. There is not that much that can go wrong with the block. Every block is inspected before it goes out.

With the economy the way it is people cannot afford to do it twice.

The block is sand cast not forged or extruded.

turboex,

Please call me and we can talk about your friend project.

We do not like to o-ring unless we are using a copper head gasket. Most sleeved blocks run orings because the sleeves will move around and the oring will absorb the movement without the gasket blowing.

If there are any questions, please feel free to call.

Thanks,

Tom

Tom @ Payntech;

Is the block considered a legal replacement block in California? If so, what ID is stamped into the block? What would a California smog Referee consider the block or engine? Could it be tagged and built at a B18A (thus using an OBD0 ECU)?

I'm not trying to be illegal, but just "tricky".

The blocks do not have an engine code on the block. If you were to put your own on it I am sure that they would not know the difference.

If you have any questions, please call me.

Thanks,

Tom
