Damaged flexpipe causing major boost lag?
I been driving my car for a couple weeks with a slight exhuast leak coming from the flexpipe with no problems except a lil noise; boost seem to build quicker, but it could be in my head. After a night of running my car hard back to back, on the last race my flexpipe finally busted fully open. Now car sounds like its running open header. During the last race in high rpms between third gear and fourth gear my car sputtered and felt a huge lost of power. After that I drove the car home with caution. the car builds full boost, but really lags hard. I don't feel boost until really high rpms way after vtec ( 5.2k ) usually boost builds around (4k) easy. I have no bottom end power at all only top end. I have no oil leaks or smoking or knocking from the motor or vacuum leaks. Im thinking I don't have enough backpressure. What do you guys think? I'm planing to get a new flexpipe welded anyday soon so i hope it fixes the problem. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
the inside of the flex pipe has probluly calapsed. i wouldnt drive it any more until you get it fixed. same thing cost me a motor on the dyno
ya def don't rail on it as what ever that flex pipe has changed is throwing off your tune. map sensor cars aren't forgiving at all were as a maf car would adjust better to the lost air flow.
one of my friends had his flex pipe collapse on the inside. we couldnt figure out why it would only make like 400 hp because you couldnt see the collapse from the outside. got it fixed and the car picked up a ton of hp, wound up making around 550 with a good flex pipe and a few more psi
