Daily driven
im sure you get questions like this on this boards all the time but....
what would i need to do to have a daily driven turbo h22 in my 4g prelude?
should i just get some low compression pistons, a turbo cam and run at low psi?
what is you turbo kit of choice?
thanx for your help and sorry about the newbie question

Re: Daily driven (4thgenlude)
Really depends on what your whp goals are and your defenition of daily driven. Some people want it full interior and AC for daily, others as long as she runs and has a plate. Another thing to consider is budget. Once you've got those worked out we can give some better advice. I'd plan on 4-5k at least for a good build that'll be daily reliable.

My best suggestion to you is to hang around here for a while and read read and read. I have learned so much from this place in the past year and half or so that I was able to install my own turbo this past weekend. Good luck!!

Re: Daily driven (4thgenlude)
i dont really need the AC becuz it has a sunroof and im in minnesota, and 4-5K probably would be in my budget if i start saving up now.
and i have been reading on http://www.honda-acura.net but there isnt a lot about turbos on there.
thanx for the replies

Re: Daily driven (4thgenlude)
well u can do it the easy way and just slap on a good custom turbo setup tuned via standalone at 12 lbs throw on some slicks and you should be in high 12's. How long will that last?? Probable not long. Pretty much your looking at resleeving your block and getting some pistons, rods, axels, clutch. Then a turbo setup. Don't think that can be had for only 4-5k though.

Re: Daily driven (flip1199)
Flip is right if your looking at 12's you'll need to build the motor in order to have the reliability you want you'll also have to go with a stand alone computer for fuel management. So let's see 2500+ for the motor build(pistons, rods, sleeves, polished crank, misc parts and assembly) 1500+ fuel system (hondata, injectors, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator) 2500+ turbo kit(turbo Intercooler piping bov, wastegate etc.) 600+ for clutch setup. It's up to you with axles and LSD though. My buddy has run low 10's in an ex civic with a GSR swap all day long with stock axles and an open dif so it's possible it's all about how you drive.
You can also save some money by not getting your block sleeved and running race gas at the track with some really good tuning and only runing low boost around town. However I would recommend the sleeving.

Re: Daily driven (Lucky_Smurf)
I would also recommend sleeving the block. I did rods, pistons, valves, polished and balanced crank, and a blockguard, but I didn't re-sleeve. It haunts me to this day. I have been running 10-11 psi for 17000 miles in MN. It runs great but it gets old. I wish I would have sleeved it so I could run 15 all day on pump gas with a good tune. Tunning is the most important thing. Get Hondata and a good tuner. I drove to MI to get tuned. Elite is the only place and I heard that they are good but they haven't been tunning hondata for that long. They tuned my s-afc before I blew up my stock engine and then switched to Hondata. If you are already going to do rods and pistons, save up and get the sleeving done too. I wish I would have. But then again I want to run 15psi daily.
