Default D16Y8 or B20 and a snail.

Alright im in the market for a turbo system and a swap.
The ONLY reason im looking @ the D16Y8 is for the FMAX kit and how its dyno charts "look" good. However I dont know a single person running the FMAX kit.
I know several DOHCers running the DRAG setup but that doesnt help me out. So what im really looking for here is someone with SOHC Turbo knowledge and DOHC turbo knowledge - specifically D16Y8 and B20B.
Please dont just say "*name of turbo kit* is crap" or something as pointless as that, Id really like some help here. thanks for your time.

I'd go with the B20 no question. Take a B20 and throw a respectable intake manifold on it and it will scream with a turbo. Lots of displacement(comparatively speaking)

agreed on that. But the price of a D16Y8 is very nice and the FMAX turbo kit "looks" like it puts down some very impressive numbers on stock internals.
right now im just trying to get info on the turbo kits and which is best for the D16Y8 and which is best for the B20....or just why some arent as good for the price as others....

hmmm lets see.

1.6 L D-block

versus

2.0 L B-block

No matter how "good" that D16Y8 looks, it's gonna be vastly inferior to a CRV block in just about every way. Aside from the price, d-blocks will always be cheaper. A CRV can make 300HP easy on stock parts at 10lbs with, with a decent intake manifold, free exhaust and the right tuning.

yes i know the B20 would put down more power as compared to the D16. but the price of the D16Y8 is very cheap and from the "looks" of the FMAX kit, 220+whp sounds rather nice on stock internals.
any ideas of how much the B20 puts down with say...12psi? and what kit?
according to FMAX their D16Y8 kit puts down 220+whp on stock internals....but i dont know anyone running the FMAX kit so i cant really disagree OR agree with what they say.

If you are so interested in the kit for the y8, why are you asking about a b20 also?

I think 220whp is attainable on stock internals and the D16Y8, but not with their fuel system. The MF2 and extra injector setup should be replaced with a nice standalone system such as Hondata or AEM EMS. But then you are talking another chunk of money for that.

It kinda depends on how fast you wanna go. If u want to run consistent 13's and faster, then I'd swap and build that. But if youd be happy with mid 14's, and maybe some high 13's on a good day, then id consider a turbo kit on the D16 and run it safe. It may be more cost effecient. THeir is a thread in the Civic forum started by me, titled "your impressions of greddy turbod 6th gen civics". A lot of people are discussing about the delimna your facing.

B20 + Turbo = Look out! hehe.

You can obtain 300 WHP with the B20 + turbo + free flow exhaust + free flow intake manifold @ 10-12 PSI and good tuning.

like i said.....if you were paying attention.....im not sure what i want to do.

but im set on B20 turbo now....any recommendations for which kit to go with?
hehe, stock internals will be used for a while, then later on down the road when i get tired of the setup ill do a teardown and rebuild for more boost.
suggestions plz!!!
