D16 help
Ok guys I am about to start my D16z6 build. 92 Hatch
Internals:
Vitara pistons 75mm 8.5:1
Eagle rods
haisting rings
Supertech valves, springs and retainers
Greddy head gasket 2mm
Hondata s200 or s300(have not decided)
So I have been researching turbo kits and what I have found are Victor X edelbrock, greddy kit, and of course the ebay kits. It is going to be a daily drive so I am only lookin for 250-300 whp. I'm new to the forced induction so I do not know which kit I should get. Maybe I have missed something, maybe I should buy parts separetly. I do not want to spend ungodly amounts of money on my turbo, but I also do not want half-*** parts. So if anyone out there is willing to give me some tips, maybe some things to look for that a noob to FI might be overlookin, I would really appreciate it. Also when I have all parts in and engine pulled I will start a build thread with lots and lots of pics. Also what do ya'll think of gearspeed. I am thinkin about sendin them my tranny for a rebuild+quaife lsd

Re: D16 help (BiggieBert)
i liked my edelbrock kit. the gt28 is a good turbo. it spools real fast. i made 230 to the wheels on my z6. @15 lbs. my motor had over 200,000miles on it when 1 ring went so im confident it died of natural causes. but it pulled real hard in my rex. and install was pretty simple good complete kit

Re: D16 help (adrenajunky)
If its a DD and you're buying 'good' stuff for it like an aftermarket IM and building the head and only shooting for 300whp, why would you go with very low CR vitaras? You'd get better off-boost power & response if you got some higher CR forged pistons, and you don't need 7.8:1 CR for just 300whp.
People get vitaras to either prove a point, save $300 for an already cheap homemade turbo kit, or because they want a gigantic gap around their pistons. The $300 more ($450 more if you get custom CR pistons) is a fraction of what you've expressed intrest in buying, and overall will make your setup that much better.

Re: D16 help (HiProfile)
HiProfile makes a great point. We have a Vitara setup on one of our CRX project cars. We did an A6/Y8 MiniMe with Vitaras and TT Rods, and although it screams under boost, it's a dog off-boost.
The Edelbrock kit is solid. A lot of good engineering went into that kit. It's very complete, and has been on the market for a while now. It was designed for those with daily drivers, and works great at moderate boost levels. It's a great place to start your boosting experience.
Hope that helps,
Craig
