Default D15B Piston Question.

I have a D15B in my hatch at the moment and I am trying to get parts together to build the bottom end. I know that it can use D16Z6 rods but I know that the pistons won't work because they would stick out the top of the deck.

I know that Vitaras would work but I would rather have a set of forged pistons instead. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be more than greatful.

Std., Oversized anything.
I'm looking for 9:1 comp ratio if possible.

Thanks for the help and happy holidays.

Vitara's will work, 75mm is standard & 76mm is OS. We do have a SOHC boost thread.......

I know that the Vitaras will work, but doesn't the std size have problems with piston slap? The 76 is a little bit too oversized for my liking. On the Vitara topic, where could 75.5mm be found? Or can they be found? Other than fjt, is there other ways to source sets of these pistons? (Not sure which Vitara to get them from)

I've looked through the SOHC thread quite a bit which is where I learned about the Z6 rods working and the Vitaras.

https://honda-tech.com/zero...ge=69

Good info around that page for the D15B. The Vitaras are said to stick out about .020 above the deck which does seem to be a potential problem but nothing that a Y8 headgasket won't fix. They seem to be a little better in the D15 b/c they don't use the sleeve as part of the combustion chamber like on a D16.

Once again thanks for the help.

Bu tthen they are now a higher compression piston. Get some custom forged pistons made with a shorter ring package and the wrist pin moved up by whatever amount is needed.

you can run aftermarket, d17a pistons from a 01-03 gx, has the same compression height, 27mm, made by wiseco for race engineering on http://raceeng.com/c-55-xt-xtp-pistons.aspx 75, 75.5 and 76

Everyone that runs the 75mm Vitara's indicate that at initial startup & first 5 minutes or so of warm up that there may be slight slap, but once it warms up it expands quite nicely, that's the thought at least. There is no 75.5 only 75 or 76... I will be running the 76ers in my D15B

Awesome. You guys are helping me lean toward Vitaras. I actually found some more info on them.

http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/pistonnotes.htm

From that I found out that in the US you can get them out of a 99 Vitara or a 95-02 Esteem I believe. As long as the piston comes out of the G16 SOHC motor it will work right?

Here they are at an online Suzuki dealer.
http://www.trademotion.com/par...gid=1

What could the "Marked 1"/"Marked 2" possibly mean?

$35 per piston isn't bad at all.

I've started looking into the D17A piston route also. Any more info on the D17 pistons? Dish/Dome height, volume?

I believe fjt is cheaper then $35 per w/ pistons, rings & shipping
