Default chrome diped pistons?

for mothers day (yeah i know it was a wile ago) i went to my cousins house and he was an airplane mechanic. i was telling me all the things i wanted to do with my civic and how much a set of forged pistons would cost. he told me that they use to coat the pistons in an airplane with chrome and that made them really hard. can you do this with pistons for a civic. this has to be cheaper then buying forged pistons. has anyone ever heard of this?

I think I have seen adds in the back of SCC about it. I don't know much about it. I can imagine that a chrome covering would make the piston really smooth, wich would help resist detonation. Adding hardness to the piston its self? I doubt it. If any of that chrome ever flaked off I don't think that it would be good for your motor.
