d-series turbo.. keep ac?
i have a sohc greddy kit now. i know this clears a/c. but what i want to know is, if i buy an aftermarket equal length manifold, and a bigger turbo + run an external waste gate? anybody know of any setups/ combos that will still clear the a/c on a z6? this is in an eg6 by the way.
i just figured i would get more power @ 10psi with a slightly bigger turbo and better manifold. i have also heard people say that external WG setups are more dependable or something? like easier to manage? (something with boost spiking or something?) anyways. thanks for any positive and helpful input

Good luck. I don't have a/c, but I don't think it would be possible with any bigger turbo than i have. With the right manifold and an external wastegate you might be able to make it fit.
It's going to be hard w/ an equal lenght manifold to make it clear a/c. Actaully i don't think it is possible. you prolly will have to run a log style manifold like maxrev, spf..etc..
so you saying i would just be better of keeping the turbo + manifold from the greddy kit? i just am worried about it dying off real bad top end. redline is 7200. and it will be running like 10psi on a 15g ball bearing turbo. anybody run this with similar boost? i know it died hard when it was only 5psi.
i thought mitsu. turbo's werent ball bearing turbos? my boost is set to about 9 right now and when i take it to the top, boost tends to come down...but i'm pretty sure its because i got my wastegate connected to my compressor...i'll be putting the vac. hose for the wastegate somewhere on the IM soon, so i guess i'll let you know...or you can just try it yourself

i guess it could not be abb turbo? one of my dsm friends told me that non bb had coolant lines or something going to the turbo. and mine has no coolant lines? only oil feed and oil return? im not too educated on my turbo stuff yet. bare with me.
umm. i have a 3" o/d exhaust (custom mandrel bent) w/ no cat. and wanted to have a 2.5" dp. but i cant seem to find a dp to match my 02 housing or a combo. i dont know where to look to find this stuff? i know the exhaust is big, but i had bought a 2.5" apex n1 to run. inner diameter was only 2.25" and seemed to small. people in here said that i would probably look at more power if i did the 3" and it would be ok cuz i am going to run 10psi. i guess i will just keep the turbo and manifold i have now for simplicity. and i will have my vac. lines on the WG ran different from described above. they will be ran that way my friend has his. hold boost better. has a cheap inline boost controller hooked up. and has both nipples on the greddy BOV ran. gets rid of that fluttering noise. makes it clean and harsh all the time.
any of you know where to get a bigger DP that will bolt up? and how much it may cost me? thanks

dp will most likely have to be custom. shouldnt cost too much if u want just the pipe from the exhaust adapter to the cat made. u should talk to tony1 about that. he can make on for u if u want.
Seriously! If the AC is so important then just sell your honda, and buy a ford tuarus becuase performance means sacrifices, plus if you take all the AC stuff off you lighten your car and they say every 10 pounds=1hp. You wont have your AC if you go racing, it takes all your power, plus I would hate to see your gas milage with turbo, and AC at the same time.
**** that. i have had 3 cars now. this is the first with working ac. i am keeping the ac. this is a daily driver and it is hot as hell where i am in the summers. i dont race very often. so the loss in performance wont matter. and the extra couple pounds... big deal. i will have a small system too. im not building an all out race car or something. i like comfort. why not be able to have a fast/ fun comfortable car that handles? that tony1.. is that the honda-tech user name? if so i'll have to do that. thanks for the info... or do you all think it would be better to leave the 2" dp since it is a daily driver with 3" exhaust and no cat @ 10psi. should i leave that part small for a little resistance... some say that 3" is too big for what i am running. and all of my ic pipes and charge pipe are only 2"
what do you think the power difference would be between leaving the 2" dp vs getting a 2.5" made? and i will be running hondata s/100 w/boost in a p28. z6, and dsm 450's.

get off the ac. i am keeping the damn ac. i can work on the ****** car with it. i am keeping the greddy stuff. how do i get in touch with that "tony1" guy? thanks

Amen brother. I live in Louisiana and mine is not working right now (it will be shortly though). I will sacrifice a little power for cool air. Going to work @2pm sweating my nuts off sucks ***. And it ain't even hot yet!
BTW someone does make equeal length mani that is a/c friendly. I saw a post a couple of months ago about it. Maybe try searching the thread content for it. I'd get one myself if I could afford it, but *****z are broke deez days.

yea, well maybe one day down the road i will. i decided last night that since my cx engine is shot. i need to stop buying stupid **** and get my other engine in there. so i am selling my jdm itr steering wheel i just recieved this past wed. it is an airbag one. i have a link to the ebay thing in the classifieds if anybody is interested... i have a bunch of stuff to buy still. but if i sell that wheel i should have enough to do the swap next week!!!!. the only $ i am not sure on is about the down pipe deal? i tried searching for that tony1 guy on ht to pm him, but said he doesnt exist or something? whatever. later
yea and when you have 100* heat coming in? or how about sitting in traffic all the time with no breeze.... are you cool enough then when the sun is beating down on you and you are sweating like a pig, feeling dirty. get a clue dude. its a ****** honda... not a full blown race car that every damn oz matters. please
