Thats pretty funny.

You want to get some arp's to avoid head lifting but dont want to change the headgasket when you do. Think of it as re-using a condom, just dont do it.

With the SOHC especially prone to head lifting, you want to take all the precautions so you dont have to take it all apart again

my head lifted and i had arp headstuds. one of the threads in the block for the studs stripped though, thats why it was leaking. ...still just b/c u get the studs doesnt mean that it wont lift up on u. Lots of other things come into play ie.. straightness of the block and heading mating surfaces...torque specs...new headgasket...

So my head lifts only under boost and I'm only pushing 6.5psi, making 195whp. But I have no overheating/coolant issues whatsoever.. is it still completely neccessary to get the block decked? My coolant overflow only fills up when I boost (I know because I saw it happen on the dyno), but under normal driving it stays between MIN/MAX... no overheating or anything.

I was thinking about just getting ARP headstuds and a new headgasket.. but now, I dunno...

I used GReddy 2 ml (thicker) headgasket (to lower compression) with ARP studs and blockguard. Boosted 10 psi for 80,000 miles with 200whp with zero problems.

If it works don fix it.

I have DSM friends that do this same thing. Undo each bolt one at a time and then retorque. Its pretty ghetto but it works and they havent had any problems.

I mean the worst thing thats gonna happened is it wont work right and you blow a headgasket. No big deal you didnt really waste alot of time and no money.
